Walton on buzz from World Seniors Darts Championship: "It has give me the motivation to get back practicing again"

John 'Boy' Walton will take to the stage first up this afternoon to face Les Wallace in the World Seniors Darts Championship.

For Walton, it is an experience he is glad to have again and believes it harks back to the glory days.

"I basically retired from tournament darts six or seven years ago. So playing in this sort of environment again, it's like starting a new. I'm more nervous at this one when I won the World's," said Walton to Tungsten Tales.

"There's the same atmosphere around it, the same buzz, the press. It's like being back at the World Championship. It's World Seniors but whoever wins this trophy is going to be proud because every one of us are winners and nobody wants to go up on that stage and lose."

He also spoke about the trophy which has received wide spread acclaim.

"That trophy is just pure class. To have the four champions that are no longer with us on there so one way I can guarantee I'm going to be on that pot either the top or the bottom."

As well as discussing his current form ahead of playing in Purfleet.

"It has give me the motivation to get back practicing again. I'd say a lot of us aren't consistent as we were. I'm still averaging between 85-90, I hit a nine-darter a couple of months ago in the local league."
