Bobby George has shared a few thoughts on darts, personality and...Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The King of Bling has signed up for personalised video site Memmo, meaning he's available to send a video message to discerning fans. George gave an interview to the
Memmo.me blog, and was asked about his career, his glitzy image and his pub habits.
When asked about the advice he would give to aspiring darts players, the two-time Lakeside runner-up was typically gregarious.
"Do your apprenticeship! Practise!" George declared.
"Play people who are better than you. Enter opens. The more oches you tread the better you get. Most importantly, learn to count properly. Be committed and if you’re good enough, get a good sponsor!"
"Another important thing I’d say is to learn people skills. There are some really good darts players who win all these tournaments but then you don’t hear from them cause they’ve got no people skills so nobody remembers them.
"I call them dried up donuts with no jam in!"
George revealed that amid the many highlights in his career, a couple stood out in particular.
"Playing for England. It feels great to play for your country. Also when I won the News of the World Championship, that’s what made me," he explained.
Another revelation was that George would particularly like to hear from Arnold Schwarzenegger, someone who he could've got to know had things turned out differently.
"The guy who trained him to be Mr Universe was actually a mate of my dad's and used to buy flowers off him, and since I already had a good shape at the time he wanted to train me to do it as well!" George recounted.
"But my dad wouldn’t let me do it, he told me to go and work. So that was my ‘Hasta la vista baby’ out the window. I could’ve been training with Arnold Schwarzenegger!"
Imagine if he'd got Arnie into darts...
