Evans reflects after continuing run at 2020 BDO World Championship: "It was amazing to beat such a top player like Veenstra"

David Evans is through to the Quarter-Finals of the 2020 BDO World Championship after defeating Richard Veenstra 4-2 on Wednesday evening.
Evans later spoke to Eurosport after claiming victory and was very satisified to defeat the Dutchman. “It was a great match, it was amazing to beat such a top player like Veenstra. I was also much quieter today than during my first competition. "
“I managed just about everything with the first three sets, but I also achieved a good level afterwards. It was to his credit that he returned to 3-2. I kept talking to myself to stay calm and that's how I was able to finish it."
'Stretch' will compete in the quarter-finals against the winner of the game between Mario Vandenbogaerde and Dennie Olde Kalter. “Both players are good friends of mine on the BDO tour. I actually have no preference and I predict a very narrow 4-3 victory for one of them. "

- It happens. Remember, anyone who has watched German and Dutch players in matches - their respective countries will have seen/heard just as bad jeering (if not worse). - Was watching an old World Masters final the other day between Eric Bristow and John Lowe, the crowd respect for both players on throw was first class, not a sound. You can imagine now the idiots who were whistling on De Deckers throw proudly boasting about it on social media. I even turned to my husband and said "Could you imagine this happening if Russ Bray was the referee tonight? At least there would have been a crowd admonishment- Ladies and Gentleman please."
