The second iteration of the Remote Darts League is coming towards it's conclusion with Paul Hogan set to take on Richard Veenstra in the final and we will have a new winner of the online tournament.
This is due to Hogan defeating the defending champion
James Richardson inflicting only a second defeat on the Rushden ace who defeated 'Crocodile Dundee' in the final last time out, but now he has a chance to put it right.
In terms of the match, it finished 8-4 to Hogan who eased into a 5-1 lead and looked to be cruising, Richardson pulled it back to 5-4; but it was missed doubles that proved key with Richardson only hitting 4/14 (28%) compared to 8/19 (42%) from Hogan.
The second semi-final was a lot more comprehensive as Veenstra eased past
John O'Shea 8-1 to set up the final with Hogan. It was another match dominated by missed doubles despite the scoreline.
O'Shea was at 1/12 while Veenstra hit 8/15 (53%) punishing every miss from the reigning World Master. Brilliant combination finishing was also key with 121, 92, 78 and 64 among them. Can 'Flyers' mark his debut in the competition by claiming the title?
After twenty days of action, the top four in the league will advance to the playoffs, which take place this evening.
