THROWBACK VIDEO: Tony David becomes first Australian World Champion with King win

With the BDO World Darts Championship not taking place this month due to the organisation’s demise, DartsNews looks back at classic moments and matches throughout January from the showpiece event.

Next up in 2002 which saw Tony David become the first Australian World Champion with a 6-4 victory over Mervyn King in the final.

He was not only the first Aussie winner but was also the first non-European since John Part to win it. He defeated Ritchie Davies, Marko Pusa, Bob Taylor and Martin Adams en route to the final.
