Laura Turner claimed a maiden victory at the 2020 BDO World Championship on Sunday evening defeating Deta Hedman.
Turner is now into the Quarter-Finals at the Indigo at the O2 and despite by her own admission, it not being the best game she'd take any sort of win as her first.
The Byfleet thrower also spoke about her experience working for Sky Sports and how that helped her in being on that stage as well as her change in mindset from last year.
"I'm delighted. I'm obviously disappointed with the way the game went. It wasn't either our best game but you've got a job to do up there so I'm just really pleased to get through," said Turner to Tungsten Tales after the win.
"I would take a win in this tournament over anything really. Obviously next game I want to step up my performance but I am through to the next round and that is what is important."
"I'm reasonably local so I had support there. I've played in front of my family before but to actually give them a win, I was desperate to do it. Last year I piled pressure on myself in so many different ways but don't think about anything else barring what you've got to do, the job in hand but it was just good to do that in front of friends and family."
"I actually felt so comfortable up there, so much more composed. Of course it was only my third time playing in a major, last year I was all over the place.
I was a bit steadier at the World Trophy but I actually felt comfortable up there. Just watching what they do at the PDC and Fallon and Mikuru just gives you that extra bit of belief. Last year I had easily given that up but Fallon and Mikuru showed me you keep going and you know you've got the game."
