Darren Webster maintains top 10 target amid worrying form

It's not long ago that Darren Webster was touted as a possible Premier League Darts pick.

The Demolition Man made great strides in 2018. After reaching the quarter-finals of the 2018 World Championship, he went on to do the same at the World Matchplay and the European Championship. It led Webster into the promised land of the PDC Order of Merit top 16.

But now, the foundation he has built is under threat. Disappointing early exits in stage events have been coupled with an inability to go deep in floor tournaments. Now Webster is clinging to a spot in the top 16 and a Grand Prix place is far from guaranteed.

However, speaking to Darts Planet TV, the Norfolk plumber and world number 15 is still full of confidence.

"I always play better in the second half of the year because I've got more energy than all of them!" Webster said.

"I've had a really bad arm for four or five months, and I've now got that sorted.

"Once I'll get back from my holidays, I'll have a different attitude.

Targets

Webster is a goal-orientated player, and sets out a plan for success. A final is high on his agenda. So too is a place in the world's top ten.

"Every time I do something I haven't done, every time I've achieved something, you've achieved one more thing.

"My best run in a major is a semi-final. I've got to go one better, and get to a final. I set myself small goals each year.

"Once I get back, as long as my arm stays as it is...the top ten [is the target].

"If I don't do anything else in my life, if I can get in the top ten - even if it's just for one week - I'm done.

"I'm not going to stop until I do it!
