Dimitri van den Bergh finds sanctuary with Peter Wright during exile from native Belgium

Dimitri van den Bergh is enjoying the company of a fellow world champion during the Covid-19 crisis.

The global pandemic has brought most travel to a standstill. Van Den Bergh, who recently played Players Championship events in England, has been unable to return to his Belgian homeland.

Luckily, Peter and Jo Wright were on hand to provide support. Now the Dream Maker has sanctuary in Suffolk as he waits for the opportunity to go home.

"Dimitri [van den Bergh], who is staying with us, we're helping him out and he's helped me out with a bit of practice every now and again. Two world champions practicing together can't be bad," Wright told The Darts Show Podcast.

"It's a bit tough - he wants to go home and see his parents, stuff like that. It's tough on him but he's thinking of moving to the UK soon anyway to try the darts 110%. Being UK based gives him a taster, I suppose."

Perhaps Wright and van den Bergh have revisited their previous meetings while on the practice board. The pair clashed in a memorable World Cup of Darts tie last year; Snakebite won it 4-2, averaging 110 to van den Bergh's 103.

Away from the oche, Wright has put his young ward to work on his Mendham farm.

"We were out (on the farm) collecting eggs the other day, I said 'your job is not to drop them', so he's having fun," revealed the Scot.
