MICHELS WINS WEEK 3! The Dutchman joins Clark and Pilgrim at Champions Week, whilst pocketing £5k!
Mareno Michels won the third weekly title in the fifth season of the MODUS Super Series on Saturday. The Dutchman was too strong for Fallon Sherrock in the final.
In the MODUS Super Series, a new competition is played every week. The best six players from the first five days of play met on Saturday. They are devided in two groups, with the two best players going through to the semi-finals. A final determines which player goes home with the 5000£ top prize.
Sherrock made history earlier this week by throwing a nine darter. She became the first woman to throw a perfect leg during a televised event. The 'Queen of the Palace' then also managed to qualify for the final night on Saturday.
Michels already met Sherrock in the group stage, beating the 29-year-old Englishwoman 4-1. Michels also won his match against Shaun McDonald, while Sherrock won 4-3 over McDonald.
In the other group, John Henderson picked up wins in his matches against Scott Baker (4-1) and Scott Marsh (4-2). Baker pulled out the win in the match against Scott Marsh (4-2) and became the remaining semi-finalist.
In the first semi-final, Fallon Sherrock won 4-2 over John Henderson, while Michels ensured the elimination of Baker (4-1). The final was then a 4-1 triumph for Michels, who returns to Portsmouth in the 13th week for the Champions Week.
