Beaton moves up the rankings and Smith closes in on Top 8 Return

Steve Beaton as a result of his run in this past weekends' Dutch Darts Masters in Maastricht has moved him up to 23rd in the world and if he continues to qualify for more majors compared to other players around him he could move up to the World's top 20.
Also another player on the rise is the in form Michael Smith who is a short amount of money away from getting back into the top 8 in the world and especially with Raymond van Barneveld the man above him scaling down especially his Pro Tour and European Tour commitments, it won't be long until the St Helens ace gets back into the top 8 and in the reckoning for a 2nd Premier League berth.
Looking down the lists, the players who look in danger of potentially having to go to Q-School include 2 time major finalist and multiple ranking event winner Wes Newton which comes as no surprise with him slipping down the rankings very fast.
Also in danger are the likes of former World Championship, Grand Slam and UK Open runner up, Andy 'The Hammer' Hamilton who would be another big name joining the droves at Q-School, as well Kettering's 'Rapid' Ricky Evans and David Pallett so it will be interesting to see how the Order of Merit shapes up in the next few months at both ends.
