Benito van de Pas won through in a very good opening clash against Cristo Reyes to set up a potential match against either Michael Smith or Gerwyn Price. 'Big Ben' averaged 83.59 defeating Reyes by 2 sets to 1.
Reyes opened his account hitting a 68 checkout on D4 but couldn't then find a break and Benito got into the match to make it level pegging in the opening 2 legs.
Van de Pas once again hit D10 to get a vital break to go on the verge of the first set. He couldn't handle Reyes in the following leg with the Spartan hitting D5 for a level game.
Benito hit a 144 checkout for the set though with Reyes waiting to put the Dutchman in pole position.
Reyes came back to break in the opening leg with D5 to potentially be on the verge of winning a set. He did just that taking out 72 for 2-0. He cleaned up winning 3-0 with a 104 checkout.
In the deciding set, van de Pas hit D16 for an early break and followed that up with a brilliant leg to go one away. Reyes wasn't done holding his throw on D8. All Benito had to do though was hold his throw and Big Ben did just that to go through.
