Mervyn King completes straight sets triumph over Ronny Huybrechts

Mervyn King continued his brilliant form he has displayed this year by defeating 'The Rebel' Ronny Huybrechts in straight sets. The previous runner up will face either Peter Wright or Stephen Bunting in Round 2.
King started off the match by hitting D8 with Huybrechts way back to grab a 1-0 lead. He continued on hitting D5 for a 2-0 lead but Ronny got a leg back hitting D10 to be 2-1 behind.
'The King' missed two lots of set darts allowing 'The Rebel' to hold his throw and make the set go the distance. Mervyn finally got over the line to win set 1 3-2 on D16.
Huybrechts came back and took the first leg but King took two legs in a row to move on the verge of a path through to the second round. He did finish it off 3-1 to complete a straight sets triumph over Ronny Huybrechts.

If it is going to be done to English players, then we are more than entitled to dish the same back when players face off in England. - I dont like individuals or crowds trying to put any player off when they are trying to check out, how anyone can think its okay for the crowd to whistle or shout as someone is throwing for a double is beyond me but it does seem to have become part and parcel of the modern game. I no longer play now, darts is as good as dead at a local level round my way but when i did play many years ago, no matter how intense the rivalry you never shouted out or whistled when an opponent from the other team was throwing for a double.Mysstree17-11-2024
