Daryl Gurney has made the transition from a player floating in and around the top 32, to a fully fledged darting superstar, but how far can Superchin go?

The Irishman first announced himself as a big time player by winning the World Grand Prix in 2017 handing him a Premier League Darts spot for the first time in 2018, where he managed a fifth place finish, and is currently sits sixth in a tightly contested league after last weeks action brought him . Gurney clinched his second major title last winter by clinching the Players Championship Finals, but after yet another disappointing run at the World Championship, it posed a lot of questions as to whether Gurney could hold it together on the world stage. After losing to John Henderson and Jamie Lewis in the last two World Championships, it leaves his best run at just a single last eight appearance in 2017, since switching to the PDC in 2013. Gurney has always been seen as a bit of a maverick. Some people love him and some don’t. Some players rise to the occasion, and I think Gurney is one of them. The confrontation with the crowd can spur players like Gerwyn Price and I believe Gurney is somewhat in that mould. Gurney in my opinion is a future World Champion, and with some bookmakers pricing him at this early stage as far out as 40/1, for the world number three, it might be worth a flutter if you are that way inclined.
