It's a heavy and busy few weeks for Raymond van Barneveld. The Dutchman is playing his last season on the PDC Tour and needs to play a lot of tournaments to qualify for his last World Championship.
Last week for example, he had to play a Premier League night in Dublin on Thursday. Van Barneveld flew to Manchester on Friday morning, as 'Barney' had to play two European Tour qualifiers in the evening in Wigan. A Players Championship double-header was on the schedule for Saturday and Sunday. Although playing all these events takes its toll, the five-time world champion refuses to give up. ''The last two months were very heavy for me. I practice, I try and I don't give up, but sometimes my body doesn't help me'', Van Barneveld wrote in a post on his social media. "I want to thank everyone for their support. I don't want to give up for them. But more often I think: 'this is it Raym.' I will give my best shot in the next few months and hopefully all those effort will pay out.'' Van Barneveld has few commitments this week as well, as the legendary Dutchman plays in Exeter for the fifth round of the Premier League Darts on Thursday. Afterwards he travels to Minehead, where Van Barneveld makes his last appearance at the UK Open.
