Gary Anderson started off his Grand Slam campaign with a close fought match with the impressive debutant Cameron Menzies. Menzies played really well which included a showpiece 134 with two D20's to finish off the combination but three 180's, a 96.5 averages and a high out of 134 brought the first win in the group from the Flying Scotsman.
Another impressive performance followed from a BDO player with
Glen Durrant picking up the first win for the 8 competitors involved from the other side of the darting divide. He defeated Peter Wright, the World Number two 5-2 with a 106 average in a stunning win for the current Lakeside champion with three 180's and a brilliant 127 checkout with Wright also playing his part with a 102.8 average himself.
