'A good kick in the backside' - Anderson on Whitlock win

Gary Anderson set up a Semi-Final against James Wade in Perth with a win over 'The Wizard' Simon Whitlock and despite having the advantage early on including leading 5-4 the Aussie couldn't capitalise on other opportunities to get legs on the board and The Flying Scotsman was there to pick up the pieces and he reeled off six consecutive legs.
He then pinned a 144 checkout to grab the victory and he was admirable of the former European Champion and he said that his recent good form meant he had to play well in his interview after the match.
“That 110 checkout on double 15 was huge, it’s not a double you want to leave but with the way Simon was playing I needed to hit it,” said Anderson.
“Simon has been playing well recently so that worked as a good kick in the backside for me and hopefully sets me up nicely for tomorrow,” added the former 2x world champion.
