Kyle Anderson's victory, against Corey Cadby, in the Auckland Darts Masters has provided another boost for the
PDC's latest attempt to boost its product globally. Despite good feedback from live crowds, and host nations, the World Series has sometimes been dismissed by certain dart's fans. The events were classed as just a "glorified exhibition" and "just an excuse to give money to the top players". However, the introduction of some new "guest" players like Anderson, Daryl Gurney and Gerwen Price have provided welcome variety. With Cadby providing proof that local qualifiers could provide excitement for the crowd and make a name for themselves. Barry Hearn's view that is looking more justified as time goes by. Add in Anderson's tale of sacrifice, leaving his wife and family for up to ten months of the year, in order to fulfill his potential and you have a heady mix of some of the sports best qualities. Interest in the Melbourne leg of the 2017 series is growing already with media interest in both Anderson and Cadby swelling by the day. Will "The Original" be able to continue his tremendous run? Will Cadby go that final step? Can Taylor retire in style? Suddenly, The World Series is asking some new and exciting questions. Perhaps the event has come of age.
