Dartsnews.com has caught up with multiple players who will be competing at Lakeside next month, the next is Jim Williams. The Welshman has had a good year capped off with a run to the final of the Finder Darts Masters losing out in a good final to Danny Noppert. He has previously had 2 last 16's in a row at Lakeside and in his 4th appearance he will be hoping to take some form into Lakeside. In this interview, we speak about the two topics alluded to as well as the chances of him switching to the PDC in the future and the strength of welsh darts currently. 'I first got into darts at home. My dad was a very good player so as practice for him we would play almost every night, loser would usually make the tea or wash the dishes......I washed a lot of dishes!! Actually it took me over 3 years to win a single leg!!' 'The Finder Masters is always a great tournament. The way it's run and the way the players are looked after is second to none! Making the final was great it's given me a lot of confidence especially getting through the draw I had! Ran out of steam in the final but I know where it went wrong and was a lesson learned! My year has got stronger and stronger so I'm happy with my form going into Lakeside!' 'Your never going to get an easy draw at the world championships so you need to respect each player and give it your all.' 'I'm really enjoying playing for my country at the moment so joining the PDC isn't really in my thoughts for the coming year. It's frustrating sometimes in the BDO but in the same breath every event has a different feel and when run well it really is great to be part of!' 'It's always a privilege to play in the team and the lads are great. We've lost 2 of the most influential players of late in Martin Phillips and Wayne Warren but young players coming through look very promising so it's exciting times for us! Jamie Lewis and Gezzy are doing brilliantly in the PDC so that helps keep the interest high all around Wales!! For me, the guy I admire and try to emulate the best I can is Martin Phillips, he's a real gentleman on and off the oche. Every time I watch him play it's reminder of how the game should be played and enjoyed! Legend' My aim is obviously to keep improving. My belief and consistency is getting better and better so I want to win as many titles as possible and give the world championships a real go! My advice to up and coming players, a good attitude and the right practice can take you a long way in darts! Just enjoy it and try to learn from all the good and bad experiences!
