We are paying attention to Spain and South Africa in this article. The Spaniards are competing in the World Cup of Darts for the ninth time, while the South Africans have entered the field for the eighth time.
Cristo Reyes and Toni Alcinas are teaming up for a fifth successive time at the World Cup of Darts. Reyes made his tournament debut in 2015, while Alcinas played all editions since 2010.
Alcinas managed to reach the semi-finals with partner Carlos Rodríguez back in 2010 after causing an upset against England (with Phil Taylor and James Wade). They were beaten by the Netherlands (Raymond van Barneveld and Co Stompé), before the Dutch side claimed the title in the final against Wales. With Reyes in the Spanish team, La Roja reached the second round on three occasions.

Devon Petersen will play with a new teammate for a fourth consecutive year. Vernon Bouwers plays alongside the crowd favourite this year, as Bouwers came through the South African qualifier. He will make his debut at this event.
Petersen makes his seventh appearance at the World Cup. His best results came in 2012 and 2014, where he reached the quarter-finals. South Africa came close to move into the semi-finals in 2012, but they missed out after Petersen made a huge miscount in the leg-decider against Wales.
