Ron Meulenkamp had a tough test at times against Ben Robb despite coming through in straight sets and afterwards he discussed preparation saying that it has been great coming into this tournament so to not perform up to that level isn't the best.
Meulenkamp added that he has prepared as of late with Jan Dekker and Jeffrey de Zwaan so playing so well is an issue as it gives you an unrealistic standard.
Speaking of unrealistic, 'The Bomb' also discussed the expectation put onto him as a Dutch player and that you are judged when you are not a World Champion.
"I prepared so good for this World Championship. The only thing that I was worried about is that it is tough in coming out but when it was 2-0, you start to relax but he came back. He let me in but I came back strong so I was really pleased with that," said Meulenkamp to LiveDarts.
"If you prepare so good for the last few weeks, I prepared with Jeffrey de Zwaan and Jan Dekker and seeing the level, the standard and you expect at least the same but if it doesn't happen you don't get frustrated."
"I'm not the World Champion MVG, I am the not the World Champion Christian Kist or Jelle Klaasen. For us the Dutch players, it's hard as when you come on the scene as a Dutch player they expect you to be World Champion."
