In the first game on the adopted new main stage at the
UK Open, Paul Nicholson had to survive a spirited comeback from Terry Jenkins to get through to a round 2 clash with Richard North. 'The Asset' is a TV match winner for the first time in 4 years, he should of won a lot easier though.
The Aussie Geordie was 5-0 up and looked to be cruising towards a whitewash victory only for the game to go to a final leg. Nicholson missed 10 match darts before he held his nerve hitting 32 with two D8's to win.
Ryan Harrington ended up winning the second game on the new main stage, this game also went to a last leg decider. He ended up defeating Richie Burnett. The former Lakeside champion busted his score when going for a 99 finish for the win and Harrington cleaned up to win 6-5. He will face Danny Noppert in Round 2.
