Payne moves closer to World Matchplay qualification

Josh Payne claimed his second Pro Tour title on Sunday and as a result has edged towards potential World Matchplay qualification.

Payne sits just £2,750 outside the Matchplay positions with 7 events to go before the cut off. This means there is a good chance that the Gravesend native will make his second appearance at the Winter Gardens.
As a result this could mean the likes of Richard North or Steve West miss out but only those potentially up to 11th in the form of Mervyn King are more than likely safe. In addition this could mean one of the closest races to the Matchplay with ‘The Maximum’ now firmly involved.
