Given the success of the Nordic & Baltic Pro Tour, a move to the region was always on the cards. Now Copenhagen takes its place among the
PDC European Tour venues. Rusty-Jake Rodriguez and William O'Connor have been given the honour of christening the first Danish Darts Open on Friday afternoon. The young Austrian meets his Irish counterpart in a first round fixture.
Following that tie, Krzysztof Ratajski meets Ryan Joyce, before Martin Schindler takes on Brendan Dolan. The diminutive German will have high hopes of building on his excellent
Development Tour form. Another man on a roll is Jermaine Wattimena. The fast-throwing Dutchman meets Welsh veteran Wayne Jones in the first round.
The first Nordic & Baltic qualifier is a man who has enjoyed plenty of success in the region this season. Darius Labanauskas, by this point a PDC European Tour regular, plays Richard North. Steve Beaton's a fan favourite wherever he goes; his quest to win over a Danish audience begins against Adam Huckvale.
Barry Lynn is best remembered for his heroics at the 2016 UK Open. That, however, has been slightly overshadowed by the progression of then-fellow amateur Rob Cross. Lynn takes the spotlight at the Danish Darts Open for this portion of Friday afternoon. He meets Chris Dobey in the penultimate fixture of the session. The afternoon is rounded off by another Baltic ace, Madars Razma, who in fact qualified in the open qualifiers. His first round opponent is the prodigious Jeffrey de Zwaan.
It's all live on PDC TV, starting at 12pm BST.
