Race to World Matchplay: Clemens and West back in provisional spots

The race to the World Matchplay continues after the latest double header of Players Championship action in Barnsley.
Mervyn King and Gabriel Clemens are back in the provisional spots after a good weekend has thrown them back into contention.
King is up to 13th while Clemens is up to 11th meaning they are secure for now in terms of qualification for Blackpool.
Keegan Brown sits in the final respective spot in the ProTour ranking currently tied with Ross Smith.
This means it’ll be an interesting few months in terms of qualification for the Winter Gardens but both are very much in contention.

- Maybe the supposed top players are burnt out from the endless travelling and tournaments, I just don't think they have the dedication or outright desire to win. I think they are more interested in the money and being popular, just keeping their rankings steady. The only thing that mattered to Phil Taylor was winning, not winning a few games to top up the money pot and seeking the fans attention. Maybe there is too many tournaments now and the enthusiasm is gone. This year especially has seen so many different winners and unexpected draws and line ups.richieburnettrocks14-11-2024
