Michael Smith will be playing Michael van Gerwen this week in the Premier League in what could be a quality clash between two of the most in-form players in darts. He will be hoping to pull of a shock potentially and go top of the league again as the table toppers do battle in Glasgow.

He spoke ahead of his clash with Van Gerwen and admitted that he has been looking forward to facing off against the World Number 1. Smith carried on by saying that he is looking forward to playing in Glasgow where his stablemate and mentor Gary Anderson will receive a hero's welcome. The St Helens ace went as far as to saying he wished he was playing Anderson in front of the crowd but also that he hopes there is some fireworks between him and Van Gerwen. "This game and the game against Gary Anderson were the two I was looking forward to when I got back in the Premier League," said Smith. "I love playing Michael. "He's one of the nice lads, we have a laugh but when we're playing he gets on with the game. He believes in his ability, the way I do, and hopefully there will be some fireworks this week. "After the last time I was in the Premier League I was struggling for a few months and I was kindof coming back into form" said the former World Youth Champion."I was playing in a ProTour event and I said to Gary Anderson that I wanted to play him that day to see where my game was. In addition he went on to say the following: "I want to stay after my match this time and watch Gary play and see what the crowd's like as well. "I wish I was on stage playing him there, because that's when you hear the fans the most. Even watching it on TV from Glasgow the hairs on your neck stand up and I'm really looking forward to playing there." for the Premier League Darts Prize Fund breakdown and for the current ranking.
