Steve Beaton draws on experience to knock out rising star Rob Cross

The third match of the evening was between two of the most in form men on the PDC tour this year in Rob Cross and Steve Beaton and it was 'The Bronzed Adonis' who came through to set up a second round clash with either Raymond van Barneveld or Kyle Anderson
Beaton started very well looking calm and collected against a nervy Rob Cross and took the first set very easily 3-0. He took the first leg of the second set but Cross roared back winning 2 legs on the bounce to lead. Cross missed a dart for his first set and Beaton made no mistake hitting the same double he missed to make it 2-2.
'The Bronzed Adonis' rolled back the years again by making no mistake hitting D20 with his last dart in hand to knock out the rising star in Rob Cross 2-0 and show his continued brilliant form in 2017.

- I dont like individuals or crowds trying to put any player off when they are trying to check out, how anyone can think its okay for the crowd to whistle or shout as someone is throwing for a double is beyond me but it does seem to have become part and parcel of the modern game. I no longer play now, darts is as good as dead at a local level round my way but when i did play many years ago, no matter how intense the rivalry you never shouted out or whistled when an opponent from the other team was throwing for a double.Mysstree17-11-2024

If you want to see crowd passion... watch a match when German and Dutch players face off... that can be just as bad if not worse for crowd noises. It happens, I have watched and heard Littler being jeered - Dirk van Duijvenbode in Holland, January this year. Where was your outrage then?
