Mensur Suljovic for the second year running will not be at the UK Open in Minehead this weekend. ‘The Gentle’ was due to play Michael van Gerwen tonight in Exeter but the Premier League leg got cancelled.
This is only a short distance from Minehead for Suljovic and co. but he is the only player in the lineup who opted to not play at the event.
In a Facebook post, Suljovic admitted he opted to spend time with his family as opposed to in Wigan qualifying.
He said they still come first but that he was looking forward to watching the event on TV.
This is reflected in the Players Championship as well where The Gentle opts out of most events in a season.

- Maybe the supposed top players are burnt out from the endless travelling and tournaments, I just don't think they have the dedication or outright desire to win. I think they are more interested in the money and being popular, just keeping their rankings steady. The only thing that mattered to Phil Taylor was winning, not winning a few games to top up the money pot and seeking the fans attention. Maybe there is too many tournaments now and the enthusiasm is gone. This year especially has seen so many different winners and unexpected draws and line ups.richieburnettrocks14-11-2024
