Van Barneveld wants to keep “battling” ahead of semi-final with Whitlock in Auckland

Raymond van Barneveld saw off Mark McGrath in the Quarter-Finals of the Auckland Darts Masters but admitted to sleeping problems and that he will have to battle against his opponent Simon Whitlock.
For Van Barneveld that is the only part that is stopping him with him saying his new set up has been brilliant but that he is very tired and has been struggling all week.
“That was nothing like my best game. My new set up is working brilliantly on the doubles but I’m not finding the big scores at the moment,” said the Dutchman after the conclusion of the match.
“I’ve been struggling with sleep this week and I’m very tired but I have to keep battling and try and improve for the semi with Simon.”

- Maybe the supposed top players are burnt out from the endless travelling and tournaments, I just don't think they have the dedication or outright desire to win. I think they are more interested in the money and being popular, just keeping their rankings steady. The only thing that mattered to Phil Taylor was winning, not winning a few games to top up the money pot and seeking the fans attention. Maybe there is too many tournaments now and the enthusiasm is gone. This year especially has seen so many different winners and unexpected draws and line ups.richieburnettrocks14-11-2024
