The format was extended for this year’s Players Championship semi-finals and final but it seemed like Peter Wright and Jermaine Wattimena didn’t get the message.

Wattimena went 6-2 up and they shook hands and embraced only to be told by PDC referee Owen Binks that the Dutchman still needed another leg. This in itself caused a lot of confusion but for Machine Gun, he still claimed the win. All semi-finals are now played over a format of best of 13 legs. Players require to win eight legs in the final to win a Pro Tour event. This rule change follows to the European Tour events. (If the video doesn't work, as well.)
