Revealed this past week, the tournament will be played at the Bonus Arena and also features Phil Taylor, Martin Adams, John Part, Larry Butler and Peter Evison.
'The Rocket' is a previous runner-up in the tournament as the World Seniors expands to their World Championship, World Masters and now World Matchplay.
Baxter played at the qualifier for the World Championship but notably spoke about his dismay that he wasn't part of the invited field and that he had to qualify.
But those who watched his performances saw potential dartitis develop for Baxter so his displays in Hull will be interesting to see as he makes his comeback.
