Gary Anderson has discussed the potential of his son Tai playing darts and has ruled out the possibility completely.
Anderson spoke to Darts World admitted that once he retires, he'd rather not be driving his son to the darts but that tennis and football are his main passions.
“I won’t allow him to play darts. It will be tennis or football, one or the two. Why not darts? If I was to finish playing darts, the last thing I want to be doing is driving my son to darts. I don’t want to see a dartboard. I don’t want to talk about darts. I might miss Barnsley – like a bad hangover! He really loves his football. If he has a choice, it will be football over tennis. I want him to stick at it," said the two-time World Champion to Darts World.
“Just enjoy what he is doing. If I didn’t enjoy playing darts, trust me then I wouldn’t be doing. I still enjoy it even though I am playing absolutely terrible at the moment.
“Tennis and football daft he is. He has got to enjoy what he does, stick at it, give his all. Tai played his first match in October. He gets his tennis coaching.
“I’m not the greatest football fan anyway, my knowledge on football is zero, I know the ball is round and that is it. I’d like to see him stick at the tennis. But I reckon if he gets to choose, then it will be football.”
