Anderson was 3-1 down and potentially heading out of the tournament but produced when it mattered to edge out Ryan Searle 4-3 with a 99.8 average, five 180s; as well as a 170 checkout en route.
He spoke afterwards and said that he is glad that he is able to go home and spend quality time with his family at Christmas knowing that he is in the next round even though by his own admission, he wasn't in his best form.
"When I was 3-1 down I had nothing to lose because Ryan was playing brilliantly so I just went up there and did my thing," said Anderson.
"Obviously I'm relieved to win and I can look forward to spending time with family over Christmas and then I can come back ready to go again.
"I wasn't playing well. Ryan was the better player but I managed to find some form and I'm very happy that I did."
