Ashton set for Q-School return in 2023, also sets continued World Championship win ambition: "I need to get this win under my belt before I retire"

Lisa Ashton produced a superb comeback to push Ryan Meikle from 2-0 down in sets at the PDC World Darts Championship but in the end lost out to 'The Barber' in her fourth first round exit.

“I fought back like I always do. I never give up,” said Ashton.

“I cannot really complain. At 52, I’m happy to still qualify for these major tournaments.

“The last set it just didn’t happen, but Ryan played well and I wish him all the best.”

Ashton though now has a continued aim to finally seal the World Championship win as well as a return to the PDC Tour with Q-School now confirmed.

The four-time Women's World Champion of course is the first and only woman to win a PDC Tour Card at Q-School.

“I’m just going to carry on trying to qualify, and I need to get this win under my belt before I retire,” added Ashton.

“I don’t know how much time I’ve got left. I’m going to play for as long as I can. Hopefully I can get back here and get that win.

“I’m going to do Q School in January. I’m going to play whatever I can and just see what next year brings.”
