Big increases in female darting participation noted after Sherrock's World Championship run

Fallon Sherrock made history during the last PDC World Championship by becoming the first female player to win a match in the event.

Sherrock went one further seeing off both Ted Evetts and Mensur Suljovic before being defeated by Chris Dobey; but since then, 'The Queen of the Palace' has had a far reaching effect since her run.

According to Steve Brown, chairman of the JDC; the number of female players wanting to be involved has massively increased.

“Fallon’s journey in the World Championships has heralded a new era for the sport as a whole; we have already seen a superb influx of girls both playing and interested in taking up the game.”

Throughout the lockdown period JDC Virtual’s popularity and participation exploded; with opportunities for grassroots players of all ages, sex and ability to qualify for the first ever Virtual Amateur World Darts Championships.

“Whilst we are a million miles from the glitz and glamour of the televised game; it is this sort of development that bodes well for decades to come and hopefully the first ever ladies and girls competing for major titles.”
