Michael van Gerwen knows opponent for third round at PDC World Darts Championship

Brendan Dolan will take on Michael van Gerwen in the third round at the World Darts Championship after Christmas. The Northern Irishman was too strong for Hong Kong's Lok Yin Lee 3-0 in sets.

Lee surprisingly defeated Dutchman Chris Landman in the first round. However, the 23-year-old could not match the level of that match. Dolan did not have to play great and managed to qualify for the next round relatively easily.

In the first four legs of the match, everything went with the darts, so a fifth deciding leg was needed to decide who would take the first set. This last leg also went to the one who started it, which was Brendan Dolan. The Northern Irishman won the first set.

'The History Maker' managed to post the first break of the match in the first leg of set 2 via a 76-finish. The Northern Irishman then held his own leg with a 70-finish to make it 2-0.

Dolan had no appetite for a long match and wanted to finish it off right away in the third set. The Northern Irishman produced a 13-darter and a 14-darter to reach match point. Lee managed to take one more leg with a 76 finish but 'The History Maker' then ended the match with an 18-darter.

Brendan Dolan will now enjoy the holidays before returning to the Alexandra Palace after Christmas. As mentioned earlier, a duel with Michael van Gerwen will be scheduled there in the third round.
