Cross 'in a different place' after opening Premier League account with De Sousa draw: "Last year, I didn't really want to play"

Rob Cross made a good start to his Premier League Darts campaign as he came from behind to draw with Jose de Sousa and for 'Voltage', he believes he will grow into this year's tournament.

Cross has spoken about the turmoil of the past year and believes he has now turned a corner in his quest to reach the top again.

"I started brightly. I managed to get out the gates, hit a 12 darter and think to myself I'm playing well. Then all of a sudden, I've just hit a bit of an edgy bit. I was sort of a little bit nervy, a little bit edgy. But I definitely feel I'll grow into the tournament from here," said Cross post match.

"As much as I've played as bad in a year, I feel like I'm in a different place. A lot of things have changed around for me, I feel a lot better just in family life and everything. I'm not happy with a point but at the same time I've got to take it and build on it."

"I'm here to win now and if that means me doing two months of having to do a bit more hard graft and getting myself sparking to where I can be, I will do that."

"I wanna play now, it's totally different. Last year, I didn't really want to play. I probably spent the last year or just over not achieving and letting myself down really."
