Two friends and darts fans who hail from North Staffordshire have raised over £30,000 for Prostate Cancer UK as their fundraising efforts continue.
Eddie Bailey and Tom 'Snoopy' Wilson each raised £10,000 in 2019 and have raised even more despite the Coronavirus lockdown potentially hampering their efforts.
Wilson has raised a further £10,000 for the charity while Bailey raised another £1,200. Both massive
darts fans, they utilise their love of the sport to help raise money.
"Tom has now reached the fantastic amount of £20,000. I’m a bit behind him now on £11,200 due to having a major operation," said Bailey to Stoke-on-Trent Live.
"But I'm so proud of what we have achieved, especially Tom."
Being part of the national fundraising effort
They are part of Team Darts who are a national group of fundraisers who attend events all over the country to help spread awareness and raise money.
Eddie spoke further about being involved: "We are very proud to be able to work with Team Darts. We all do our own bit, all over the country. Overall we have raised around £40,000 between us all.
"We raise money through darts competitions and various events, but Tom also sells a lot of items on Facebook such as badges, wristbands and darts paraphernalia."
While for Tom, his next goal is to raise £25,000 or more for the charity and he is glad to be involved and raise vital funds.
"I first got involved with darts thanks to Eddie and we challenged each other to raise £10,000 which we managed to achieve.
"I've been selling a lot of sports memorabilia online, such as signed darts merchandise and accessories. I've become trusted and very well established now and receive donations from a lot of people - with items coming from as far as Germany.
"I'm very proud of what I've done and really enjoyed raising the money. It's been great to use my hobby to fundraise for a good cause."
