Jose de Sousa is the first player through to the Quarter-Finals of the 2022
Masters after dumping out Rob Cross in a 10-7 victory to begin Saturday's proceedings in Milton eynes.
De Sousa saw off Cross with a 98.7 average, six 180's and a 122 checkout which sealed it in style for 'The Special One'.
Cross started to get away early on with De Sousa only averaging 77 as 'Voltage' went 2-0 up. But back-to-back legs brought him level only for Cross to continue to get his nose in front with a 146 checkout en route to a 5-4 lead.
But a pivotal double eight instead of single eight saw De Sousa take advantage and draw level at 5-5.
He missed another dart at double 16 and the Portuguese ace was there to mop up with a break of throw to go 7-6 up which was consolidated.
De Sousa sunk a 101 checkout to go towards the finishing line from there at 9-7 up after they exchanged legs before the aforementioned 122 which sealed it.
