De Zwaan pays tribute to deceased grandmother on a special day after victory against Chisnall

The attentive viewer saw Jeffrey de Zwaan make a gesture towards the heavens after hitting his matchdart on double 12 to beat Dave Chisnall at the 2020 PDC World Darts Championship.

After reaching the last sixteen at the World Championship, De Zwaan explained to Dartsnews why he pointed to the heavens with his hand. ''I played this match on December 23, it's the date my grandmother passed away.''

''She died in 2003. Now I'm 23 years old and the number 23 on the PDC Order of Merit. I thought it was a nice moment to say thank you to my grandmother. It was kind of a tribute.''

The Dutch star will be back in action on Saturday evening. The Black Cobra will face Peter Wright as he aims to reach the quarter-finals at the World Championship for the first time in his career.
