De Zwaan reacts after Premier League Darts set to be cancelled in Rotterdam: "It's a real shame, I was really looking forward to it"

De Zwaan alongside Jermaine Wattimena was slated to appear on home soil but this will not happen due to suspension of all events in the Netherlands with over 100 people until March 31.

This means that for both Dutch players, there will be no homecoming at least for the time being at the Rotterdam Ahoy and De Zwaan wasn't very pleased with the news.

"I just heard the news, of course that sucks. It's a real shame, because I was really looking forward to it," said De Zwaan to DartsNews after it was revealed.

The Black Cobra showed mixed feelings for the decision. "On the one hand, I understand it. I understand that events are postponed to prevent further contamination. On the other hand, I doubt whether we should react so hysterically to this virus, while there are other diseases that kill more people.”

The 23-year-old Dutchman is currently in Barnsley, where he is set to compete in two Euro Tour qualifying tournaments and two Players Championship tournaments from Friday to Sunday. De Zwaan himself isn't sure why there is play in the UK while three European Tour events have been suspended this week alone.

"I have my doubts about that. If airlines no longer want to fly, how should we get to the Pro Tours? Then you have a problem anyway. Maybe it was better to postpone all of this month's tournaments and catch up later.”

However, despite recent developments De Zwaan will carry on as normal going into this weekend. "I'm not at all concerned with it. Shall I shake hands with my opponents next weekend? Yes, I have no problem with that.”
