Christian Perez will not participate in the fifth and sixth
Players Championship of the year, which take place next week in Hildesheim, Germany.
Perez captured a PDC Tour Card for the first time early last year, but visa problems meant he could barely compete on the Pro Tour. After being able to participate in several Players Championships earlier this year, he now has to drop out again.
According to Perez, there were two factors that led to this decision. First, the issuance of his British biometric residence permit (BRP), a strict requirement for his visa application, was delayed. Second, there were no immediate and available visa application arrangements with the German embassy in London.
"As soon as I had my BRP, we tried to make an appointment for my visa application. Unfortunately, the earliest appointment date open to us was March 19 - which is already the second day of the Players Championship tournament in Germany," Perez said.
"The next hurdle is getting an approved multiple Schengen visa - without it I can't play in Germany," he added. Besides the Players Championships in March, the other events to be held in Germany are the European Darts Grand Prix from April 19 to 21, the Players Championship 9 & 10 and European Tour Qualifiers from May 6 to 8, the Players Championship 11 & 12 and European Tour Qualifiers from June 11 to 13, and the World Cup of Darts from June 27 to 30.
