Dimitri van den Bergh’s manager Mac Elkin ‘immensely proud’ after World Matchplay triumph

Dimitri van den Bergh claimed the World Matchplay title last weekend and one man who was there all the way was his manager Mac Elkin who heads up the prominent The Sportsman Management Company stable.

Elkin said it shows what he saw in him from day one and that he doesn’t plan to end there in terms of his titles.

“I am immensely proud and from the day I first met him seven years ago I knew he was a talent that’s why I signed him,” he said to Darts Mad.

“Dimitri is only 26 years old, he’s a back to back world youth champion and now the World Matchplay Champion obviously he would like to go on and win more but that’s always the plan.”

Glen Durrant is another prominent member of the stable and for Elkin, he believes it’s only ‘a matter of time’ and that he has also taken himself on Facebook to focus his energy more on darts.

“I once again thought Glen was brilliant and think it’s only a matter of time before he wins a major.

Players spend a lot of time on social media, they get abuse and people are constantly asking for free stuff so I just thought it was the right time for Glen to focus more on himself.”
