Chris Dobey will make his World Matchplay debut on Saturday night in one of the main ties of the first round as he takes on Rob Cross to continue a brilliant year for the Bedlington ace.
Dobey recently spoke to Dartsnews.com ahead of his debut and he cannot wait to get out onto the stage for the first time. He also spoke about his first round opponent and said that he feels he can have a deep run; but that he knows he has to be at the top of his game to dump out an in-form Voltage.
'I can’t wait to get started feel good about it and practising and playing well so hopefully it continues up on the stage,' said Dobey to Dartsnews.com ahead of his debut at the Winter Gardens.
'I always believe in my own ability and feel I can have a deep run. But what I do know is I need to be at the top of my game as Rob is very consistent'
'Hollywood' recently reached the final of the Danish Darts Open just losing out to Dave Chisnall and when asked what has changed in his game, he said he's putting more time into his darts and as a result despite losing to 'Chizzy' he said it is a great feeling.
He added that he believes all that is missing now is a title and that he feels that more will come when he claims his first.
'The only thing that changed is I’ve put a little more time into the game than I normally do and I feel it paid off, it was a great feeling reaching the final I felt good all weekend but unfortunately just missed out.
'I’ve said in many interviews I feel that all I’m missing now a title and feel as if I can win more and more once I get the first one.'
