Kevin Doets has won the second PDC European
Challenge Tour tournament on Friday evening. The Dutchman defeated Christian Kist in a high quality Dutch final with 5-2. For Doets it is his second Challenge Tour title of his career, after he also won one in 2020.
With victories over Ricardo Pietreczko (5-1), Toni Alcinas (5-2) and Lukas Wenig (5-4) he qualified for the final. Against Alcinas Doets even produced a great average of 102.2. Kist's best feat came in the semi-finals, when he threw a nine-darter in his match against Steven Noster.
Doets started the final very strong with a 13-darter, followed by a 12-darter for a break. After that it was even 3-0 with a 76 finish. Kist came back to 4-2, before Doets closed the match with a 70 checkout. Both Dutchmen showed an excellent level in the final, with an average of 97.0 for Doets and 99.4 for Kist.
Earlier on the day Matt Campbell had won the first Challenge Tour tournament of the season. Four more events will be held this week, with two tournaments being scheduled on Saturday and Sunday.
