Durrant opens up on difficult last 18 months: "I thought I was going to come back and I dealt with it pretty badly"

Glen Durrant's darting downfall has seen the three-time BDO World Champion go from the highest of darting highs in winning the Premier League to now losing his Tour Card just two years on.

Speaking to the Darts Show, he looked back at his difficult 18 months and how it felt going from an elite player to considering his darting future.

"It was the speed it happened, when you win the Premier League there was a moment inside of me that went I've done it and that's dangerous when you do that. When you're not setting yourself targets, not looking ahead. I think I would have accepted a deuteriation when I was still competitive but it was just the speed it happened," said Durrant on The Darts Show.

"From being the player that no-one wants to play on the ProTour first round to being the player everyone wants first round was the toughest thing of all but I'm so fulfilled. I've had a fantastic career no matter what and I'm very proud of that."

"The night I beat Gary and Nathan (PL Finals night) if you watch it back, my throw's not the same. It's not the same as that April when I was the best player in the world. It was fundamentally going wrong. As great as the Premier League was, it was the catalyst when I realised something was wrong with my throw."

"I thought I was going to come back and I dealt with it pretty badly. I'm absolutely lacking in confidence, my mindset is so bad. I'm embarrassed."
