Edgar explains hidden costs of playing in World Championship

Matthew Edgar earned £15,000 at the last World Championship but in an informative video, he gave an idea of how much he actually receives for that run.

"This is in terms of income, we've got nothing going on in January, February. The World Championship does make a lot of that income," said Edgar.

"I lost in the second round of the World Championship which as you know is £15,000. £300 levy which is PDPA, they take 2% of prize money. We also pay a yearly fee to the PDPA which comes out of the World Championship money. If you're not in the World Championship, this £500 you have to pay at the start of the year to play in the PDC."

"DRA (Darts Regulation Authority), we have to pay an affiliation membership fee to those every year which is £50. This invoice is for the Covid tests, we had two Covid tests done for my guests. So in total with deductions of £1,114 which gives me a remittance of £13,886 minus other expenses."

"The hotel was £80 a night (£560), costs I put down as £200 which includes food and travel. It probably was a bit more than this. This is before tax, so this will be taxed."
