After losing his PDC Tour Card at the end of 2022, David Evans has regained his love of the sport in the past few months and believes changes could be made to the PDC system.
"You do feel restricted in a way," Evans tells Online Darts, explaining how once your signed to the PDC you are unable to compete in any other livestreamed tournament. "When you don't have a tour card, doing the likes of the ADC, MODUS Super Series and anything else that's televised you're free to do what you want."
"Yes it's a thing that everyone wants, to be a tour card holder," he continues. "Everyone wants to be the world number one, to play in the world championships and if you have those dreams you can do it. But if you're restricted slightly maybe things could be more relaxed."
"It's my belief and I've spoken about it to many players before. If you're 64th to 128 and you are not in contention to be in the top 64 there should be that difference," Evans concludes. "Go and play whatever tournament you want no problem. If it's livestreamed just pop an email over to get permission. I think from 64 to 128 there should be some lenience."
🗣 " Something needs to change"@stretchdarts on not being in a good headspace after losing his Tour Card and calls for change for cardholders between 64 and 128 with increased opportunity elsewhere now.
