Luke Humphries has qualified for the semi-finals of the World Matchplay for the first time in his career. 'Cool Hand Luke' defeated Damon Heta 16-13 in the quarter-finals.

"It was a strange game," Humphries opened. "I think the strangest thing about it was the break of throw and then couldn't hold the throw. I think we must have broken each other about twenty times it was crazy. But I'm over the moon, I feel great, I'm in a Matchplay semi-final. It's what dreams are made of."

In the semifinals, Humphries will take on Jonny Clayton. "I'm going to have to be a lot better tomorrow," he admits. "The funny thing is I do feel really good. I'm dropping low a lot and I can't really force them through. Usually on the Pro Tour and the Euro Tour just below the treble is 140 territory for me but it's just not happening on that stage."

The former junior world champion sees his match against Clayton as a career highlight. ''I like a bit of pressure on my shoulders. I play better. So hopefully, tomorrow when that pressure is on, that might help me play a lot better."
