John Henderson lost his Tour Card after a long stint on the PDC Tour last year and failed to regain it immediately at Q-School.
This meant Henderson has had to resort to Challenge Tour and MODUS Super Series in particular to continue to play and despite not being in his best form he admits, he is enjoying the game.
"I wish I wasn't here (Super Series) but it is what it is, I lost my Tour Card and we've got opportunities to play without a Tour Card, that Challenge Tour is an endurance test if I'm being honest, it's quite hard. Then come here straight after, it's a lot of darts but it is what it is, I'm enjoying it maybe not playing as well as I'd like to," said Henderson to
Online Darts. The popular Scot admits COVID was a big factor in him losing his Tour Card and this set him back even when his form started to pick up at times during 2022.
"COVID done me, I've said it all along the stop start. Playing five ProTours then nothing for three months, the consistency wasn't there. But it was the same for every player, it's how you handled it."
"The last six months I thought my Tour Card was in jeopardy and I had to work hard but the last six months I started playing well but it came too late. It was unfortunate that I'm in the position I am."
But despite dropping off the tour, Henderson is still in a good position financially in particular and still maintains the backing he previously had.
"When it comes to darts financially, it's never been an issue with me. That side of things I've not got that worry. I know some darts players have got that worry but I've never had those troubles. My wife is fantastic, I've got the best management team in the business and sponsors are still on board so got to continue and get back to where John Henderson needs to be."
