On Friday, the PDC World Darts Championship kicks off at the Alexandra Palace in London. Besides the established names, the debut of the still-only 16-year-old sensation Luke Littler is one of the standout things to look forward to.
Littler won the World Youth Championship last month, beating Gian van Veen in the final. "He's an exceptional talent and I think he's had a good draw too," says Mark Webster, former BDO world champion and two-time semifinalist at the PDC World Championship. "Christian Kist is having some problems at the moment, then Andrew Gilding is a winnable game."

Webster also sees a big plus for Littler. "For Luke, he can just go and enjoy himself. He's said in his interview that it's about getting on the tour and getting into the top-32, he doesn't want to play anymore Development Tour. I like the way he's spoke, he's ambitious, I look forward to watching him progress. He throws fast, he's a big scorer, he's someone you want to watch. He's box office."
Littler was also qualified for the WDF World Championship, but opted for Ally Pally instead. "He's come to the right place, he's done the right thing. He didn't need to go and play in the other one," Webster said. "I'd have liked to have seen Beau Greaves. I'm never going to judge them, with Beau, I get it but at the same time there's no guarantees with young players."
"Everyone says to me, 'they've got time' but time is never guaranteed in sport. You don't know what's around the corner. I'd have liked to have seen Beau at the World Championships, particularly after the glimpses of what we saw at the Grand Slam, she's ready."
